Case and Spelling
Our searches are not case sensitive and as a result, spellings like refrigerator,
Refrigerator and REFRIGERATOR are all equal. The search fields are AND operated on. This
means if you fill in 2 or more fields, all keys you provide must be contained in a sale for
that sale to be returned as a match by the search.
Date Based Searches
20000109 :This entry would return every sale notice in our database that is scheduled for
January 9, 2000
2000012 : This search would return all January 2000 sales (month 01) scheduled for any of
the dates beginning with the digit 2: 20, 21, ...28, or 29
Item Key Searches
There is a provision to search for sales described by two kinds of
descriptors. For example to find sale listing pine armoires, you could use pine armoire as
a single item search. However, this search would not find sales with this text: armoires,
pine, ash and oak. So to get around this you could use two item key searches: pine and
armoire separately to avoid that. Also, if you want to know of sales with both chairs and
tables, use both item fields and enter chair in one and table in another. Avoid the use of
word derivatives (table instead of tables, paint instead of painted etc).
